The Lab

The Lab — Diagnostic

Before training begins, we Measure

The Lab establishes a structured baseline of how a child pays attention, makes decisions, and responds to error

— the evidence everything after it is built on.

What happens

The Cognitive Audit is not a chess lesson and not a test. It is a structured session that produces a written baseline: where attention holds, where it breaks, how decisions are made under time and uncertainty, and how a child recovers from a mistake.

Every Audit produces:

  • A baseline report across attention, decision-making, and recovery
  • A specific, observed pattern — not a general label
  • A recommended pathway: Lab continuation, Institute, or Foundry
  • One concrete practice to begin immediately

Example, from an actual report:

"Your child shows strong pattern recognition and tactical creativity. The current constraint is premature commitment
— in several positions, the first attractive move was chosen before a second option was considered.

The first practice: identify two options before choosing one."

What you actually see

Most programs show you a result: a rating, a trophy, a pass/fail.

The Audit is built to show you something most parents never get to see — the thinking itself.

The Audit is a structured learning portrait of how your child approaches attention, decisions, uncertainty, and mistakes in selected tasks.

It is not a complete picture of your child.

It is a clear, evidence-based picture of how they think inside a defined training context — the starting point for everything that follows.

A trained thinking advantage

The Cognitive Lab helps children improve the habits that support clear thinking:

staying with difficult problems, pausing before reacting, comparing possibilities, making deliberate decisions, and returning after mistakes.

Chess is the training ground; attention and thinking under difficulty are the capabilities they practise.

A note on scope
This report is an educational training baseline, not a medical or psychological diagnosis.
It describes observed behavior in structured chess and learning tasks and does not replace assessment by a qualified health, psychological, or educational professional.

Who this is for

  • Families who want clarity before committing to a program
  • Younger students without an established baseline
  • Parents who want to understand how their child thinks, not only how they perform

If the Audit shows that The Cognitive Lab isn't the right fit, we'll say so directly:

"Based on what we understand about your child's current needs, another type of programme may serve your family better at this stage."

The Lab exists for one reason:

To understand how a student thinks before deciding how they should train.

It is where fragmented attention becomes visible, weak habits are named precisely, and the next step is chosen with discipline rather than guesswork.

This is not a casual trial class. It is a structured diagnostic environment designed to establish a cognitive baseline and recommend the correct path into continued development.

The Cognitive Audit

The Cognitive Audit is the core instrument of The Lab

This is a premium diagnostic session designed to understand how a child thinks, attends, decides, recovers from error, and responds under light pressure.

It is not a lesson, a talent test, or a motivational conversation.

It is a structured assessment built to produce a written baseline, a risk map, and a developmental recommendation.

We are here to observe how the student thinks,
not to judge them.

Begin with clarity.

Before methodology, there must be measurement.
The Lab gives students and families a disciplined starting point from which real development can begin.
